Feature Spread Overall

Choosing the fonts and creating the topics proved to be the most challenging aspect of the feature spread. The fonts for the title were "Haunting Attraction", "Cedarville Cursive", and "Exquisite Corpse" respectively. They are each differing fonts, the first and last one being the closest together in terms of what emotions they provoke. "Haunting" and "Corpse" both succeed in making the audience feel intimidated; this is a Halloween edition and those fonts scream it. "Cedarville Cursive" was used to keep it in a sophisticated and smart area. It helped the spread feel a bit old, like when people still used cursive frequently. Like the title itself was haunted. The eyes were the only sort of graphic used aside from the blood dripping in the background of the second page. House Style Project Analysis

Viewing ten presentations on differing magazine covers and their house styles has exposed me to new lessons in what I will need to keep in mind when creating my magazine and what I will need to consider when forming presentations. While there were several formulas for creating a magazine cover that were shown, all had consistencies. The masthead was always significantly larger than the other pieces of text to signify its importance. Furthermore, I will have to consider the pros and cons of having anchorages on my cover, or to keep it focused on the graphic/photo like The New Yorker had. An important aspect is the color scheme of the cover. I must make it so that the colors reflect my main article (for instance, if it is serious, I would be using darker colors as opposed to pastels). CODES & CONVENTIONS -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Magazine covers vary from genre to genre and from magazine to magazine; however, issues of the same magazine often have many similarities. Seeing what a professional, published travel magazine does may inspire ideas into what my own theme park/travel magazine will look like in it’s final product. The magazine that I am focusing on is produced and distributed by a popular theme park in Orlando, Florida (and other cities): WDW (Walt Disney World) Magazine . It focuses on the inner workings of Disney World and cute games and tidbits about what to expect when you go to their parks. I chose this series as it will help in what I am interested in producing (theme park pros and cons for the park’s events).
