Feature Spread (WIP)

Image
Feature Spread (Work in Progress) Looking at the WDW magazine feature spread gave me an idea on how to base the layout of my spread. I wanted one full page to be a picture of something related to Halloween Horror Nights with a caption of when the HHN events begins. The other page will be an article about Universal's Halloween Horror Nights (an overview, as in what to expect, pricing, fast pass, and the such). I wish for the title to be in a chiller font, maybe the same as the cover line on the cover.  For the body paragraph, I want a drop capital in a block design or a fancy, script font. The byline should be done in a sans-serif font. In the midst of the text, I want there to be a picture of another creature of HHN.  Since it seems minimal, I might be open to making another spread about what to know before you go to these events in a numbered sequence. Short paragraphs, possibly with pictures.

Cover + TOC (WIP)

Cover (Work In Progress) Getting the creative ideas flowing usually is a hard task but for some reason, what I wanted my cover to resemble came easy to me. I knew from the start that I wanted a creation from Universal's Halloween Horror Nights to be on the cover. From experience, I knew they would be bringing the tradition of at least a pair of stilt-walking characters to their production. Those are the most intimidating to me, and also the most fascinating so I knew I wanted them on my cover. The idea for the masthead popped into my head right as I thought of the name for the magazine. Having the last "e" fly off like a roller coaster really makes the title come together, I think. I wanted to push into the codes and conventions of other travel magazines and made sure my main image was barely obscured by any text, so I am attempting to keep the anchorages that I have on my cover minimal--only about 2 or 3. The idea for the plus sign came from another magazine I saw.
